As parents we can't be afraid to sit down with our kids and have a conversation about Social Media, sexting and educating them on #thinking before they hit send. It's uncomfortable for them, and for us, but it has to be done. There aren't many topics that are off limits in my household, and as the dad of three daughters (13, 11 and 8) this can get very interesting. But my main interest lies in their safety and in teaching them Good Decision Making. To get the message across we have to be honest and speak directly, there is no other way. Now, I don't advocate taking the phone every day and searching every single thing that has been texted or posted. But it's my responsibility as a parent to educate and sometimes that means checking on the activity on their phones. My goal is to give them the tools and educate them to Make Good Decisions, and hope what I'm peddling will make a difference. In the end it's their decision making that will be tested, but I believe I will have given them all the tools to be successful.
